Franklin HS Theatre Company (FTC)

FTC is an award winning Theatre with awards from Lenaea & Bob Smart Theatre Festivals and award from the Elly Awards of Sacramento Area Regional Theatre Association (SARTA). Franklin Theatre has produced over 60 productions in it history on campus. FTC is lead by Mrs. Lisa Sandoval, Teacher and Artistic Director.

Each year, FTC produces an average of 7 shows including a Children's show for Elementray Schools. This show is attended by over 3500 people plus evening encore shows. Daily shows average at least more than 20 shows each year. In 2011 a record attendance was seen with over 4600 folks attending the daily shows. However, 2011 was unique with two classes hosting two shows each day.

FTC is supported by the parent Booster group Franklin Theatre Association. They meet monthly in the drama class room.

Franklin High School Band

FHS Band

The Franklin High School Wildcats music program is led by Mr. Matthew Mackey. Their web site is about the award winning Wildcats and contains information about upcoming events, band history, fundraisers, band council, parent boosters, and more.

Currently, Franklin High School has several band programs, including Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Drum Line, and Color Guard. The program has successfully flourished with the commitment of the band director, additional instructional volunteers, students, and parents

FUSION DANCE COMPANY

Fusion Dance Company …accepted by audition-only, this dance company prepares a spring dance show and participates in the EGUSD DanceFest. Also, the Dance Company will showcase performance dance to the school and community.  The dance classes are under the direction of teacher Mr. Joesph Candelaria who works as  the following: Teacher/Dance Instructor/Choreographer

What is Fusion? A style of popular music originating in the 1970s that blends improvisational elements of jazz with the rhythms, harmonic structure, and bass lines of rock or funk, sometimes adding elements from other musical styles, and usually emphasizing the use of electronic keyboard instruments, electronic modifications in recordings, etc.

About the Company

Franklin High School's Fusion Dance Company is an auditioned performance group consisting of students grades 9-12 interested in celebrating the art of dance. Fusion Dance Company embraces all forms of dance  including: ballet, jazz, modern, hip-hop, and cultural forms of dance.

Fusion Dance Company is directed by the dance teacher at Franklin High School, Joseph Candelaria. Fusion Dance Company members enroll in Dance Composition and Performance and rehearse daily after school. Company members are required to maintain a 2.0 grade point average. Fusion Dance Company develops, creates and performs a full length main stage dance concert in the winter.

Fusion Dance Company is also an active member of the Public Education Dance Alliance participating in several dance workshops and events in the community including Dancefest. Fusion Dance Company also participates in the Mondavi Center Outreach program allowing the members of the company several opportunities to learn from professional dancers and choreographers from around the world.

Fusion Dance Company also regularly performs at Franklin High School events and at various elementary and middle schools in the area. Fusion Dance Company also performs at the Dance Days Festival at Paramount's Great America.

 

CHOIR-PIANO

FHS has a very active Choir and piano program.  Under the leadership of teacher Mrs. Coleen Hogge, this program has a variety of activities.

Their is the Concert Choir (Audition Required to join), Vocal Ensemble, Music Appreciation, and Piano classes.  Several times during the year this group performs concerts at school along with performing at various community and choir activities.   http://franklintheatreassociation.com/Choir
